A day totally dedicated to the cooking and the discovery of two treasures of Umbria: ceramics and wine.

Deruta, has been a center of pottery production for centuries, and Deruta majolica continues to be one of the most prestigious in the world. We offer you a workshop to discover the craft techniques of the ceramic district of Deruta.

The tour commences with a concise overview of the rich history of the Deruta ceramic district, setting the stage for a deeper understanding of its cultural significance. Following this, a detailed presentation unfolds, providing insight into the various phases of the production cycle. Led by a seasoned pottery professional, you’ll delve into the intricacies of local craftsmanship. Through hands-on experience, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and mold clay, putting your skills to the test as you embark on the creation of your very own pottery piece. This immersive encounter promises not only a glimpse into the heritage of Deruta ceramics but also a chance to actively participate in the time-honored artistry that has defined the region for generations.

The wine tour is in the famous wine area of  Torgiano where one of the first Italian DOC and DOCG of our region was created. The vineyard is spread over 60 hectares, all certified organic, on a beautiful hill, in the heart of Umbria, between Perugia and Assisi. The tour includes a visit to the vineyard and delightful tastings, offering a brief yet immersive experience into the rich winemaking history and exquisite terroir of the area.

Program of Full Cooking Day in Umbria: Cooking Class + Deruta Ceramic and Wine Tour


  • 10.00 Arrive in the country farm “la volpe e l’uva” in Perugia. Begin instruction, highlighting the history of Umbria cooking and presenting the day’s menu. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves for hands-on preparation of a glorious meal.


  • 12,30 Enjoy the fruits of your work! Eat the foods that you just created complemented by our wine and extra virgin olive oil.


  • 14.00 You will visit a ceramic laboratory in  Deruta where the majolicas are completely handmade. Their high quality products keeps the tradition alive and evokes the classic decorations of the various periods. The production cycle is completely carried-out within the company and rigorously worked by hand in all its phases.
    The wine tour includes the guided tour of the vineyards and the cellar. During the tour the history of the area, its traditions and all the stages of development of the vineyard are explained, from winter pruning to the harvest. Once back in the cellar, the techniques of processing the grapes and refining the wines are illustrated, both in steel and in wood. The tasting of selected wines is an important moment of this experience.
