Black Truffle Festival in Norcia!

Cooking Classes and Tours  in Italy from 22th to 26th February 2024

Umbria boasts a robust truffle culture and tradition, with truffles being a vital ingredient in numerous traditional dishes. The region is renowned for two prominent truffle varieties: the Black Truffle, also known as the Norcia or Spoleto Truffle, maturing from November to March, and the White Truffle, predominantly cultivated in the upper Tiber Valley.

Throughout Umbria, various Fairs and Festivals celebrate truffles, providing opportunities for their sale and tasting. The Truffle Festival in Norcia, held on the last weekend of February, stands out as Umbria’s premier agricultural event. It serves as a significant gathering for both “trufflers” and local shepherds. The Fine Black Truffle of Norcia takes center stage, complemented by a showcase of traditional local products, including cold cuts, IGP prosciutto (ham) of Norcia, sheep milk cheese, IGP Lentil of Castelluccio di Norcia, and other legumes and cereals native to the region. This festival serves as a gateway to explore the traditional products of the area and savor the authentic flavors championed by one of Italy’s regions dedicated to preserving its agricultural heritage.

This Culinary Package offers a delightful itinerary, encompassing an afternoon tour in Norcia during the Black Truffle Festival, an immersive truffle hunting experience, and a wine tour to identify the perfect wine pairings for truffle-infused dishes.
