Details of the Cooking Holiday


Trip Length: 4 Days/ 3 Nights

Day by Day Itinerary of the Holiday


  • Day 1 – Arrive in Perugia
    Arrival at the country farm “La volpe e l’uva” (Perugia, Central Italy, Umbria, near Tuscany). Check-in your apartment at 4:00pm.


  • Day 2 – Cooking + Chocolate and Deruta Ceramic Tours (Perugia)
    Morning. Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
    Afternoon. You will visit an artisan chocolate laboratory where you will experience the world of chocolate with all your senses: from its creation and cultural significance to the unlimited tasting of chocolate.
    You will visit a ceramic laboratory in Deruta where the majolicas are completely handmade. Deruta ceramics are a milestone in the history of Italian pottery. They gained worldwide fame during the Renaissance thanks to their creative and qualitative excellence. Their high quality products keeps the tradition alive and evokes the classic decorations of the various periods of Deruta. You will learn about the local production from a professional potter and you will try your skill at creating a piece of pottery from clay by hand.


  • Day 3- Cooking + Truffle Hunting
    Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
    Afternoon. Your guide will drive you in the Educational itineraries on the Truffle track, they are fascinating and unique experiences to discover the mysterious world of the Truffle. The guided visit is run by experts, who will take you through the entire itinerary from the digging up of the Truffle to its processing and use in cooking, teaching you how to distinguish and taste its different varieties.
    It includes: Demonstration of Truffle hunting with dog and Tasting of truffle dishes and local wine.


  • Day 4 – Departure.

We had a wonderful time and we learned A LOT! Raffaella was wonderful. So patient with us beginners. The meals were tasty and easy to replicate at home. After we cooked, we enjoyed a relaxing lunch with wine from her vineyard. It was perfect! We took the session the week before Christmas which was perfect! Our afternoon tours were to small villages where we saw beautiful Christmas decorations and Christmas markets. The weather in Italy is mild compared to our winters in Michigan. Our guide, Paulo, was fabulous. It was like walking around with a friend. Since the group was small, we could stop at our leisure for coffee or to shop at a little store. I highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience with Raffaella and her cooking class. Held in her wonderful home in the Umbrian hills just out of Perugia we cooked delicious bread, tartufo pasta, involtini and chocolate and pear cake. She then set a gorgeous table for us to enjoy the food we cooked. Such incredible tasty, yet simple food. I highly recommend Raffaella’s cooking class. She’s such a wonderful teacher and host!

We had a lovely cooking experience with Rafaella! The classes were hands on, personal, with lots of attention for detail. We followed the 3 day cooking class and it was fun, delicious and we learned so much! Rafaella makes sure that you learn all the details, that you practice all the steps and she answers all your questions. Also the accommodation was great with a nice apartment, great views and near to many beautiful towns to visit.
