In 2016 Central Italy has been hit by a series of earthquakes, the locations primarily affected are in the Region of Marche and Abruzzo.
One of these earthquakes had its epicentre in Umbria close to Norcia, in the south-eastern corner of Umbria ( about 100km far from the city of Perugia), near the boundary with the Marche and Abruzzo regions.
The great part of the Umbria region was unaffected by this earthquake, damages were recorded only in a small area more than 100km from the Perugia city. This area is called Valnerina, where is the city of Norcia.
The media linked the earthquake with Perugia because the Valnerina area (where is Norcia) belong to the wide Perugia province/area ( please see the province map) even if it is very far from the city of Perugia.
Our cooking school and farmhouse is in Perugia and it was unaffected by the earthquake as well as Assisi, Orvieto, Gubbio, Todi, Montefalco and the other cities of our tours.
waiting to meet you in my wonderful Umbria
