Welcome to Umbria! Deruta, in Umbria, is one of the best known pottery cities dating back to medieval days. Now it's famous all over the world for its elegant hand painted ceramics. The binomial Deruta pottery like the one Deruta ceramics results to be surely indissoluble and characterized by this little village.
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY OF THE TOUR
Day 1 - Arrive in Perugia
Arrival at the country farm "La volpe e l'uva" (Perugia, Central Italy, Umbria, near Tuscany). Check-in your apartment at 4:00pm.
Day 2- Deruta and wine tour
Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00 am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
The tour take place from 15.00 to 19.00. You will visit a ceramic laboratory in Deruta where the majolicas are completely handmade. Their high quality producs keeps the tradition alive and evokes the classic decorations of the various periods of Deruta. The production cycle is completely carried-out within the company and rigorously worked by hand in all its phases. Than you will have a wine tour in a Winemakers Company near Perugia. It is a vineyard under family management, which with special care from their very own vines, produces D.O.C. Colli Perugini and IGT dell’Umbria white, red and rosè wines
Day3 - Truffle hunting
Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00 am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
The truffle tour take place from 15.00 to 19.00. You will visit a farm located in Gubbio. Through the Educational itinerary to the Discovery of the Truffle; you will understand the history and it’s secrets, you will live the emotion of picking it in the woods, we will show you how to preserve the truffle and how to use it in cooking. The tour includes: Demonstration of Truffle hunting with dog, lesson and practical advice on Truffle preservation, truffle and farm products tasting with local wine, visit of the city of Gubbio.
